Without elegance, playing and winning are not enough – René Lacoste

Lacoste

René Lacoste was the world’s top ranked tennis player in 1927. In 1933, Lacoste invented the iconic polo by cutting the sleeves off a shirt. In the process, he revolutionized menswear.

During a trip to Boston with his tennis team in 1923, Lacoste notices a crocodile suitcase. “If you win, I’ll buy it for you,” his coach joked with Lacoste before a match. This anecdote is behind Lacoste’s nickname, “The Alligator,” which is the brand’s emblem today.

The Lacoste brand expanded to include a range of products including apparel, leather goods, fragrances, shoes and, in 1981–eyewear.

These frames are modern yet rooted in the classic elegance and contemporary style of the Lacoste heritage. They embody the Lacoste expression of modern French style–elegant, classy, and chic. Lacoste frames are urban style and comfort inspired by sport. A look of timeless heritage for the court or the street–stand out in Lacoste.
