Meet Toni Kerber, Our Vision Therapist
I am outgoing, positive, conscientious, hard-working, and fun.
How did you decide to become a VT?
When Shirlene (from EYEcenter) sat with me and explained what vision therapy was I was interested to learn more. Honestly I did not know what vision therapy was before that time. I believe a higher power led me to this place at this time. The thought of helping change someone’s life through vision therapy is exciting.
Why do you like being a VT?
I love helping children/patients/ students grow beyond where they start. It is so rewarding to be part of their transformation.
How would you describe your work style?
I like to be part of a team. In my duties I like to have my ducks in a row and I like to be prepared. I strive to be efficient and effective. I want to be friendly and professional. Once I am trained I am able to work independently with little supervision required.
How do you encourage a child to keep working at VT when they are feeling frustrated/down?
I would encourage a child by listening and reminding him of the progress he has already made. I would try to get him to focus on the positive things he has already learned. I would let him know that he isn’t alone and that others are here to support him. And then I’d tell him that he’s going to make it!
