EYEcenter Optometric Now Offers Duette™ Multifocal Contact Lens,
A New Technology Solution for Eyes over 45
Citrus Heights, CA (September 15th, 2011) – EYEcenter Optometric is excited to announce that they are one of the first optometric practices in the nation to offer Duette Multifocal, a new state-of-the art hybrid contact lens from SynergEyes, Inc. For the first time, patients over 45 can wear a hybrid contact lens that delivers clear, crisp binocular vision so they can see near and far and everywhere in-between.
Finally, our patients over 45 are getting 20/20 vision at all ranges: distance, near, and intermediate. And, they rave about the all-day comfort as well.
Over 100 million people in the United States have presbyopia, an age-related eye condition that eventually affects everyone over 45; even those who have never needed vision correction before. Presbyopia is caused by a loss of elasticity within the natural lens of the eye that makes it more difficult for the eye to focus up close. The result is blurred near vision. Until now, contact lenses for people over 45 have required wearers to compromise their distance vision in order to see at near.
“Duette Multifocal contact lenses provide the best quality of vision available in a contact lens”, said Randall Fuerst, O.D. F.A.A.O. of EYEcenter Optometric. “Finally, our patients over 45 are getting 20/20 vision at all ranges: distance, near, and intermediate. And, they rave about the all-day comfort as well.”
Duette Multifocal offers great vision due to new hybrid technology that combines two types of materials into one lens: a rigid gas permeable or “hard” lens center and a soft skirt. The rigid center of the lens uses a proprietary MultiPro² technology that delivers “simultaneous vision” which allows the eye to easily focus back and forth between all distances. The soft skirt around the center provides the all-day comfort of a soft lens. “Duette contacts are like progressive glasses,” said Dr. Fuerst, “but instead of carrying around a pair of glasses, our patients wear comfortable contacts lenses that allow them see at all distances.”
Approved for marketing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Duetteä family of lenses are the first hybrid contact lenses with a silicone hydrogel skirt, a MaxVu rigid center with high oxygen permeability and a class II UV blocker.
“We pride ourselves on offering our patients the very latest in vision correction technology and the Duette Multifocal lens allows us to do just that,”. – Randall Fuerst, O.D. F.A.A.O.
The SynergEyes® Hybrid Contact Lens Story
SynergEyes®, Inc., is a 21st century company, founded by a small group of industry and eye care professionals that recognized the market need for a better hybrid contact lens that combined the superior visual acuity of a rigid lens with the comfort of a soft contact lens. The revolutionary SynergEyes® hybrid contact lens with its rigid center and soft lens skirt, allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds – a stable, high oxygen permeable rigid center that delivers consistent crisp, clear vision with the all-day comfort of a soft contact lens.
In September 2005, SynergEyes® received FDA “clearance to market” for the SynergEyes® A lens for patients with hyperopia, myopia with and without astigmatism. Over the subsequent six months, the company received market
clearance for five additional lens designs – the Duette™ lens for patients with astigmatism, SynergEyes® KC and ClearKone® lenses for patients with keratoconus, the SynergEyes® Multifocal lens for patients with presbyopia and the SynergEyes® PS lens for patients with refractive errors following corneal surgery and trauma.
The SynergEyes® family of lenses fulfills the original goal of providing a solution that addresses the full continuum of vision needs while providing excellent visual acuity and all day comfort. No matter what type of vision correction you currently use, there’s a good chance you’re compromising on either clarity or comfort. With SynergEyes® there are no compromises.
