Dr. Brenda Coen did her undergraduate work at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Optometry in 1990. As part of her training, she did externships in primary care, contact lenses, and vision therapy. She also attended an extensive internship at the State University of New York for more vision therapy training. She was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Society for academic excellence and won two different awards for contact lens related work. After practicing in a variety of settings, including a Veterans Hospital and a pediatric clinic, she is happy to be a Eyecenter Optometrics here in the Sacramento area.

Working in the practice part-time allows her to spend time at home with her three young sons and husband, Dr. John Coen, addition to an occasional get-away to Missouri with her mom and sisters. She beautifully balances her work in the practice and the needs of her family.
